Press Release
EOHR welcomes announcement of Coptic
Christmas holiday for all Egyptians
EOHR
welcomes the presidential decree declaring the Coptic Orthodox
Christmas an official feast holiday for Egyptians on January 7. EOHR
regards this decree as a positive step towards achieving harmony and
homogenizations between Muslims and Copts before the State.
EOHR
appreciates the essence of the decree which is oriented for the
implementation of the right to full citizenship for all Egyptians and
granting the right to worship.
EOHR
hopes that all the public institutions and different social sectors
would intuit the base of such decree, to exert efforts to
mainstreaming this vision culturally and socially.
In
this regard EOHR understands the great responsibilities lie on the
shoulders of media and educational institutions to dissimilate the
culture of citizenship. This culture is a fundamental guarantee to the
implementation of the human rights principles in general. |
