EOHR calls for immediate inquiry in torture incident occurred at Belkas police station

EOHR expresses its deepest anxiety concerning Mohamed Abdel Aziz's injury as a result of assaults by judgments execution investigation forces at Belkas police station –Dakahlia governorate. EOHR calls for immediate inquiry in the incident and to declare the investigation's outcome to the public.
On the 6th September 2007 judgments execution investigation forces break into Mohamed 's house at 3:00 am to arrest his brother for judiciary execution who wasn't at the house. When Mohamed had asked them about the reasons behind these assults ,he was suddenly beaten by the officer and was dragged to the housetop above 4 floors to look for his brother . The man was kicked and pushed to rail side, the matter which the man dropped from roof after the rail's collapse . Mohamed was carried to Belkas public hospital, then to El Salam International Hospital at El Mansoura.
The incident resulted to the following injuries:
- Break above right thigh
- Break above right arm
- Bruises and grazes to hands and chest
Report was released from hospital to perform a surgery to transplant slides and corns in his right thigh and upper arm.
EOHR expresses its deepest worries as regards to torture phenomena under the patronage of legislative constraints and punishments imposed by the Egyptian law . EOHR calls upon the parliament to take a quick decision concerning the draft law which being produced during 2003 to amend some penal and criminal articles related to torture crime which agreed with the international treaties ratified by Egypt in 1986 .
EOHR calls for Prosecutor General to make quick investigation in the following incident and the other torture incidents occurred in confinement places ,declaring the investigation results to the public. EOHR calls upon the Minister of Interiors not to cover up the torture crimes occurred in the police stations and Egyptian prisons and take the guaranteed procedures to settle an account with perpetrators from officers and police corporals.
