Eohr expresses its deepest worries concerning the truculent campaign Abdel Raheem Aly, author and Egyptian researcher, is facing, which accuses him of defaming falsely the image of el Jihad and fighting Islam. They called for shedding his blood ,as they stated.
This campaign is considered a clear violation of the rights of human being to express his own opinion.
Furthermore, EOHR telephoned the researcher to understand the issue and to know the reasons of this campaign which has reached the point of shedding his blood.
Abdel Reheem Aly confirmed that the forum which wants his blood shedded is related to El Qaeda. Abdel Reheem carried out five studies concerning El Qaeda including a study about its strategy which was used to scandalize about their behaviors. Moreover, he has been exposed to the mentioned campaign from the forum and to other accusations but this is the only time he is wanted to be killed.
According to this, EOHR expresses its deepest worries concerning violation of freedom of opinion and expression in Egypt which is guaranteed by the Egyptian Constitution in Article 16 and stipulated in the international covenants for human rights and Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which was ratified by Egypt and became part and parcel of the Egyptian Constitution according to Article 151.
EOHR expresses its deepest worries concerning imposing restrictions on thinking, accusing some political thinkers and dissenters of infidelity as it happened in the course of the nineties when assassinations were spread among thinkers such as the assassination of Farag Fouda ,thinker, and the attempt made to assassinate Naguib Mahfouz, international writer and Makram Mohamed Ahmed, writer.
EOHR calls for thinkers to stay away from fanaticism and to establish a positive discussion among different trends of thought in order to support freedom of opinion and expression.
