To announce the Report on the Security Protection of the Egyptian Woman
And the legal responsibility that she should be provide with

EOHR along with the Egyptian Center for Women's Rights issues today its report on:" The Security Protection of the Egyptian Woman and the legal responsibility of her". The report discusses the legal protection that the national legislations should provide in the light of what covenants and conventions concerned with human rights provide for women. One of these covenants and conventions is the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, which the Egyptian government signed. It became a kind of internal law according to the Egyptian constitution.
The report provides a documentation of model cases of Egyptian Women who have been subject to violations of their legal and human rights. It also includes cases of Egyptian women from all sections of society. The cases of arrest include arrest: while they were dealing with civil registry, were arrested and searched because they were accused in one of the cases; while they were subject to a punishment that restricts freedom, while they were visiting a family member in prison or to be detained in what is known as the detention of hostages. This is considered a severe violation for their Right to Freedom and Personal Security.
Due to our belief of the importance of this issue, we publish this report which is divided into three chapters:
First part: legislative Introduction about the legal protection of women according to International covenants and conventions. This section includes international covenants and conventions that state the necessity of providing legal protection for women, and committing the Countries involved to take appropriate legal procedures so that its internal laws conforms with these international covenants and accords. These international accords include the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the Convention of the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, and the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women. It also includes the national legislations that provide legal protection for women and reinforces the execution of punishment upon those who violate them. The most important of these legislations is the Egyptian constitution and the legal procedures law and the Penal Code and other laws that the executive authorities have to abide with while they are dealing with citizens as means of respect for the Egyptian citizen, and providing equity with other nationalities.
Second part: The Field monitoring of the violations that the Egyptian women are subject to. This Chapter includes model cases that were documented through EOHR's Field work. They are the following:
    • Model cases of women while they were dealing with the civil registry and the violations there.
    • Model cases of women who were subject to torture and abuse in prisons and police offices.
    • Women who were subject to legal violations while they were under detention.
    • Model cases of women who subject to violations while they were visiting family members in variant Egyptian prisons.
    • Attached is a schedule of the cases that were subject t violations of their right of freedom and personal security.
Third Part: Conclusion and Reccommendations: It includes the recommendations that the report has reached. The recommendations state the legislative procedures that should be taken and the amendments that make the Egyptian laws conform to the Egyptian constitution and the international covenants and conventions concerned with women rights which the Egyptian government signed and became part of the internal laws of Egypt according to the republican orders that were given about them and according to act number 151 of the Egyptian constitution.
